XIZANG JIANG BEI COMMERCIAL STREET
This commercial street is located in Shannan City, the birthplace of Tibetan culture and one of the youngest prefecture-level cities in China. JIANG BEI Commercial Street is in an alternating area where history and modernity blend. Our design concept meets the collision effect between traditional culture and contemporary civilization by taking advantage of the unique geographical location.
The commercial street has extracted more typical architectural elements in traditional Tibetan houses, such as rammed earth walls, saffron red wooden components, and small square windows. The entire commercial street design highlights a stable and dignified figure. With a combination of functional commercial buildings, a simple and elegant “modern Tibetan-style” architecture with regional characteristics is created.
The overall location is an irregular area. Therefore, different partitions are set up regarding site functions, including commercial areas (hotels, shopping centers), commercial pedestrian streets, outdoor children’s activity centers, art galleries, museums, etc. Thereby interrupting the single pedestrian experience and making the shopping experience richer.
